About the Album
The Wall is a concept album exploring themes of abandonment and personal isolation. Conceived during Pink Floyd’s 1977 “In the Flesh” tour, it follows the character “Pink,” modeled in part after Roger Waters and inspired by the band’s early leader, Syd Barrett. It was the last studio album featuring David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Richard Wright, and Nick Mason together before Wright’s departure. One of 1980’s best-selling records, it remains a cultural touchstone.
